Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning “Universal Life Force Energy”, an energy which is all around us. There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed. Reiki supports all forms of treatment both orthodox and complementary.

The method of receiving a Reiki treatment is a very simple process whereby the recipient lies on a couch and relaxes. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything - even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places her hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

It is safe and gentle for babies, children, adults, pregnant women, elders and animals. It is non-invasive and effective for a wide range of illnesses and ailments including: Anxiety, Digestive Problems, Asthma, Migraine, ME, Insomnia, Depression, Grief, Rheumatic Pain, Sports Injury and Post-Operative Recovery. Recovery time from acute injuries can be enhanced although more chronic illness takes longer.

A treatment lasts approximately one hour and the Reiki practitioner will gently place her hands on different parts of the client’s body whilst lying down, fully clothed, on the treatment couch. Alison has been practising Reiki since 1999 and became a Reiki Master Practitioner in 2001.

Clients often report feelings of relaxation and calmness after a treatment. It is best to avoid alcohol and coffee following Reiki.
